Along with the Camon 20, 20 Pro and 20 Pro 5G, Tecno also announced the Camon 20 Premier, the first smartphone to run MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 8050 5G chipset.
The phone boasts a premium design with a leather back and ceramic camera module. Tecno claims that each phone takes a total of 576 hours to build and 56 hours to polish.
Design and Build
The Camon 20 Premier 5G comes with a rear panel covered in lychee pattern leather, while the camera module is made of nanocrystalline ceramic. The phone is available in two colors – Serenity Blue and Dark Welkin.
With the camera module being ceramic, we won’t be supprose to see a full fledged ceramic model in the future, just like the Limited Edition Camon 18 Premier Ceramic model.
The phone features a unique camera configuration, starting with a 50MP RGBW main camera with a 23mm f/1.8 lens and sensor-shift OIS.
There’s also a 108MP 13mm f/2.2 ultrawide camera, which is one of the largest UW sensor on a smartphone, with autofocus and macro abilities.
Additionally, there’s a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor and a laser AF sensor. The front of the phone boasts a 32MP f/2.4 fixed-focus selfie camera.
Chipset, Storage, and Display
Tecno opted for the new MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chip for the Camon 20 Premier 5G, which features four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 units. Note that the Camon 20 Pro 5G model is also powered by this same CPU.
The phone is paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of built-in storage, interestingly, and just like other models in the Camon 20 series, both the RAM and storage are expandable.
The phone has a 6.67-inch 2400x1080px AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a built-in fingerprint scanner.
The phone has a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging support. All models in the 20-series are given the same 5000mAh battery, but the other models has 33W fast charger.
Price and Availability
As stated above, the Tecno Camon 20 Premier comes in two colors that includes Serenity Blue and Dark Welkin. As for pricing, the device’s Recommended Retail Price (RRP) is N295,500 in Nigeria. Considering current exchange rate issue, this should fall between $500-$550. The device will go on sales in Nigeria today.
