iTel to launch first smartphone with punched screen today

0

In hierarchy, iTel Mobile is the smaller phone maker of the three sub-brands owned by Transion Holdings, with Infinix in the mid, while Tecno tops them all. This is demonstrated in the ranges of phones made and sold by these company. While Tecno and Infinix are pushing mid-range phones, iTel focuses more on basic features phones, to entry-level smartphones, dealing less with trending techs.

iTel to launch first smartphone with punched screen today 7

Talking about trending techs, Tecno Mobiles have launched a smartphone with in-screen fingerprint scanner, remember Phantom 9?, Infinix on the other hand just released their first smartphone with Helio G90T CPU and 90Hz refresh rate (Infinix Zero 8), same with Tecno (Camon 16 Premier).

As for iTel, the only trending tech we seen so far is a dewdrop screen, present on the P36-series, the Vision Series and the S15-series, and that is if dewdrop/waterdrop/display-V/U-shaped screens are still considered trending.

iTel to launch first smartphone with punched screen today 8

For what it’s worth, iTel Mobile have scheduled a launch event in Kenya tonight, and if our assumptions are right, the company may be launching their first smartphone with a punch-hole notch, also known as display-O according to Samsung.

The event is tag brand launch and a handful of iTel smart gadgets are expected to be unveiled in Kenya during the event. Some of these gadgets may includes iTels new S16-series, iTel smart TV, sound bar, earbuds, sockets and more. I was careful not to look into the image above too much, as it also reveal a possible launch of iTel laptop.

But the one that interests me the most, is the upcoming iTel S16 series. Sadly nothing is known about this series, but from the banners we’ve seen so far, there might be two models in the series, possibly S16 and S16 Pro with the former having a dewdrop notch and the later graced with a punched hole screen.

The event will kick off live on KTN and Facebook by 7:30pm (GMT +3), and will rerun on NTV same time on the following day. I’ll come back here with the full story.

App Library – No more littered apps, everywhere

This features was the reason why few folks in the techsphere are of the opinion that apple is journeying back to Android. The feature works similar to folders on Android Home screen, that helps arrange your apps into categories based on either they are social media apps, multimedia apps or games.

The interesting part of it is, you can either allow the iOS to auto-detect and sort the apps into folder for you, or you can manually create these folder/categories, and sort the apps yourself.

Your Widgets now have a new home

It wasn’t possible to place multiple widget on home screen with iOS 13 and before, but apple introduced this traditional Android features in iOS 14. This means, you can dedicate a home slide to your widgets, where to affix elements like clock, weather, news headlines etc.

All you need do is Ask Siri, which is now 20x smarter than it was 3 years ago according Apple.

Cool Compact Calls

This feature is mainly for folks on the go, especially people who talk on speaker while on call. Really think of it, why should a call interface covers the whole screen estate when you can do other stuffs in the background, besides phones screen are bigger now right? That is where compact call stand out, the call portion will take a small percentage of the screen, and you can play around on the remnant.

Updated Maps

With the new iOS 14, Apple adds two new features to it Map app;

  • Cycling directions and
  • City Guide

Purported Samsung Galaxy A02 seen on GeekBench

0

A purported Samsung Galaxy A02, successor to the Galaxy A01, has been caught playing around on GeekBench. The upcoming entry-level Sammy device with the model number SM-A025F, scored 757 in single-core and 3,904 in multi-core tests respectively, on the popular cross-platform processor benchmarking site.

Purported Samsung Galaxy A02 seen on GeekBench 28

Few other details revealed as per the image above includes the presence of Google Android 10, 2GB RAM and an octa-core CPU with a base speed of 1.8GHz. This CPU according to rumors, is the 3-year old Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, released back in June of 2017. Well, we would wish to see a more recent CPU, but this Chip should still be tougher than the SD439 used on the older Galaxy A01.

You might want to recall that the Samsung Galaxy A01 was announced back in December of 2019, sporting a 5.7-inch HD+ Infinity-V display and powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 439 CPU, paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The device had dual camera modules at the back and run on Google Android 9.0 with Samsung One UI custom skin out of the box, offering a 3000mAh battery in it 8.3mm body.

Samsung Galaxy A02 specifications features and price

That battery capacity was not the best we’ve seen in a Samsung phone lately, and the company have long upgraded battery wise, since the launch of A01. We might not have a 7000mAh battery in the upcoming A02 as seen on the M51, but it should be better and larger than the 3000mAh juice used in the A01. In either case, these are mere personally suggested and the final product might offer different specs, so take in with a pinch of salt.
