Realme GT Neo is coming in February says officials

Realme, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially confirmed the launch of its upcoming smartphone, the Realme GT Neo 5. The brand has teased the device on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo, but has not yet revealed the launch date. However, it is speculated that the device will debut next month in China.

Realme has also confirmed that the GT Neo 5 will be the world’s first smartphone to support 240W fast charging technology, which was unveiled by the brand last month. The poster shared on Weibo does not reveal any key details about the Realme GT Neo 5 apart from the fast charging technology and the launch date, which is expected to be next month.

However, the device has been spotted in leaks and on various certification sites in the past. The GT Neo 5 is expected to be the successor to the Realme GT Neo 3, which was launched last year. The brand has decided to skip the GT Neo 4 moniker since the number ‘4’ is considered unlucky in China.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the GT Neo 5 is expected to debut on February 8th. However, the official launch date has not been confirmed yet. As for the specifications, the Realme GT Neo 5 is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is considered to be the second most powerful processors currently in the market.

Renders of upcoming Realme GT Neo 5

It is expected to feature a Sony IMX890 primary sensor, along with optical image stabilization (OIS). Leaked renders of the smartphone reveal a dual-tone design, with the camera module in black color and the rest of the back panel in white. The GT Neo 5 is also rumored to feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an integrated fingerprint scanner.

This display is expected to provide a smooth and seamless user experience, with a high resolution and fast refresh rate. The device is also expected to pack up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Realme GT Neo 5 is also speculated to come in two battery variants – a 4,600mAh cell with support for 240W charging and a 5,000mAh variant with 150W charging.

The Galaxy S23-series to pioneer Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Corning is set to introduce the latest version of its Gorilla Glass screen protection, called the Victus 2, and it will be coming with the upcoming Galaxy S23 series. Victus 2 is designed to provide improved drop resistance, allowing the phone to survive falls on rough surfaces like concrete from up to 1 meter (hip height) or up to 2 meters (head height) if it falls on asphalt.

This improved drop resistance has not come at the cost of scratch resistance, and the new material is also environmentally friendly, containing an average of 22% of “pre-consumer” recycled content. This has earned it an Environmental Claim Validation mark.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will be used to protect both the front and the back of the phone, similar to how Victus+ is used to guard both sides of every Galaxy S22 phone.

The press release from Corning, the company that manufactures Gorilla Glass, did not mention the “S23” explicitly, but given the timing of the release, it is likely that the Galaxy S23 series will be the first to feature the new screen protection technology.

The Galaxy Unpacked event for the S23 series is scheduled for Wednesday, where more details on the new phone and its features, including Gorilla Glass Victus 2, will be revealed.

Samsung has a history of being the first to introduce new versions of Gorilla Glass, including the original Gorilla Glass Victus and the improved Victus+, and it looks like the trend will continue with the Galaxy S23 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
