Patent document point to a new Xiaomi foldable phone with pop-up selfie

Samsung has both a foldable Tablet phone and a clamshell foldable phone, Motorola has one as well, OPPO, TCL and LG are currently working on some sort of foldable device or the other. But for Xiaomi, well, the company is yet to get off the ground of copyright. Just a month ago, Xiaomi patent a foldable device with a side-slider camera, but while the company is yet to make any major headways with this right, a patent right for another foldable Xiaomi phone has been documented on the web; this time with a pop-up camera.

The design which looks ugly in phone (folded) mode and and beautifully sleek in tablet mode, comes with a dual pop-up camera in the rear part of the case, so that it faces forward in both smartphone (folded) and tablet (unfolded) modes. Hence, while the frontal display has a nightmare bezels on all side, the main tablet-sized display is flawless with very tiny bezels, and no punch or drop kind of notch.

The images above courtesy of LetsGoDigital, portrays the possible look of the upcoming foldable smartphone from the world number 3 smartphone marker. As per the sketching, the upcoming device will claim triple snappers at the back, different from the dual popping front camera.

Xiaomi already have a track record with phones using pop-up mechanism; the K30 Pro, Ultra, K20 Pro and even the Poco F2 Pro has this technology, and it might be the best go option for the company instead of developing a new camera slider.

We don’t know if this folding device from Xiaomi will be heading to the Mi Mix-series, or coming under a new series of smartphone, but it a matter of time before we find out all of these. Talking about time, don’t expect any foldable device from Xiaomi until Q1 2021.

Poco M3 might be inspired by Cyberpunk Edition of OnePlus 8T

Can you still remember the Cyberpunk Edition of OnePlus 8T announced recently? As far as design goes, you can expect a water-drop kind of notch at the front, and the frontal snapper should be hidden in here. The Poco M3 is said to be powered by an octa-core Qualcom CPU, probably the Snapdragon 662 SoC, along with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.

There should be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner below the volume buttons on the right, and the phone should be backed by a 6,000mAh battery along with 18W fast charger.

Where the Oneplus 8T Cyberpunk Edition get mimicked is at the rear of the phone. But instead of the all glass camera panel stretched across the top of the OnePlus 8T, the rear of the Poco M3 will have a vertically arranged triple camera module, but with a stretched dark color painting across the top of the phone.

Recall that the first Galaxy A51 from Samsung was announced back in December of 2019, and was later upgraded to Galaxy A51 5G later on, in April 2020. So we won’t be surprise if the Galaxy A52 5G is announced before the close of the year.

HD renders of upcoming Nokia 6300 (2020) are here

Even though there has not been any official confirmations yet, we know HMD Global is currently working to bring back two legendary Nokia features phones; (smartphone worthy there were in their days, about 14 years ago). These two phones have been confirmed to be the Nokia 8000 and the Nokia 6300, both of which are rumored to offer 4G data speed, and maintain same design language as their ancestors.

The Nokia 8000 and the 6300 4G should be released before the close of the year, but today, we are taking a look at what the Nokia 6300 4G might look like, all thanks to the concept creator. In the opinion of the creator, the 6300 4G will inherit same design language as the aged grand model, and may not come with much physical changes, except for the added touch modern material feels.

HD renders of upcoming Nokia 6300 (2020) are here 30

The older classic phone came with 2G network, but the upcoming model, just like most resurrected Nokia feature phones, will offer 4G network speed. The concept eliminated Nokia logo stamped above the display on the older version, thereby making the bezels all-round thinner, which could mean the 6300 4G version might offer a larger display than the 2.0-inches screen used on the 2006 version.

No one knows the feature CPU that will power this guy, but KiOS has been confirmed. Specifically, the 6300 4G will come in Charcoal, Cyan and White colors and will be powered by a 1500mAh battery. Recently rumors is also pointing to the Nokia N95 being resurrected as well, but no specific time frame has been stated for the launch of any of these devices.

Infinix Note 8 Davido Limited Edition now on sale 34

Infinix Note 8 Davido Limited Edition

We’ve seen more of this design theme from the likes of Huawei/Honor, Xiaomi, and Realme, where the name of the smartphone company is engraved at the back of the device. But unlike Infinix, instead of using it own brand name at the back of the device, it decided to stamp Davido’s instead.

But digging right into the internals of the phone, you will meet same specs as the vanilla Note 8, which includes Mediatek Helio G80 gaming CPU, 6GB RAM, a built-in 128GB of storage, Android 10 based on XOS 7.1 and a 5200mAh battery with 18W fast charger.

At the front, the large 6.95-inches HD+ display remained untouched. This means the dual selfie snapper is still hidden in the front pill-notch. And in addition to the engraved Davido at the back, you are getting same quad-rear camera setup, driven by a larger 64-megapixel main lens, along with three other auxiliary lenses.

The device is currently sold via Slot System, and should be available via other online stores as well. You can follow this link to learn more about the Note 8-series from Infinix.

Popular Nokia 6300 and Nokia 8000 could make a comeback

HMD Global actually started resurrecting older Nokia smartphones from the Lumia-series, but that resurrection efforts have long gone beyond just Lumia-series to even feature Nokia phones like the C-series. A fresh rumors today point to a comeback for the popular Nokia 6300 and the Nokia 8000.

Both of these phones are well over a decade, and are based on Nokia Java-series with limited built-in communications. Now these devices have been listed by a carrier named Telia in a list of phones that support Wi-Fi calling.

The specifications of these new devices haven’t been revealed but the rumours has it that the devices might be running on KaiOS and should also support 4G connectivity.

Personally, I would love to see how these 2006 legendary mobile phones will look in 2020, after a massive 14-years. Moreover, I wish the upcoming Nokia 6300 – a device I personally used – will go beyond just being a 4G phone, to a full fledge smartphone.

HMD Global have resurrected few other older Nokia feature phones. For example, the popular Nokia 3310, 5310 Xpress Music and the Nokia 2720 flip were relaunched between 2017 and 2020. Hopefully the company will step into the upper Symbian series like the Nokia N86 and N96 series later on in 2021.
