Xiaomi Redmi 5 Review: A Worthy Mid-range Smartphone

Review Introduction

While Xioami is a well know smartphone maker in countries like China, India and even some of the Western countries, the company is still a big stranger to many smartphone user in the entire African continent. Although, I have seen recent efforts by Xioami to make it products available in some African countries like South Africa, Nigeria, Botswana and Malawi, via some third party dealers. Sadly only mid-range and rather aged Mi devices are available via the above means. Well, all thanks to GearBest.com for sending us a unit of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 for review.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Quick Unboxing

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 came in a very thin and compact red and white box. When I opened the box, I thought the Redmi 5 smartphone was the first thing I was going to see, but no, it wasn’t. The first thing I saw was a white beautiful pack, hosting a TPU silicon case. After taking it out, then…there it was…a Golden-colored Xiaomi Redmi 5 smartphone with white front panel.

Digging further into the box, I got the following;

  1. a Micro USB cord
  2. a 5V-2A wall charger
  3. the aforementioned TPU silicon case
  4. and of course the Xiaomi Redmi 5
